Is the Playground dying?

I've recently noticed that the forums have changed a lot recently. The Town is inhabited by a completely different group of RPers, most of the Random Banterers have been replaced by newer folk, and even the Art forum is filled with new folk who think they have talent.

Are these people slowly killing the playground? Will AMEN have to find a new home? Will it live longer than the OotS and the playground? Will our founder Psyke_D rise from the grave of forgotten AMENites to lead us to a promised land? Will those new folk get bored and leave once the school year begins? Am I asking too many questions? Am I overreacting and making a big deal out of nothing?

Yup. The forum is dying. Hate to say it, but it's true.

Or maybe everyone will come back once school starts again, I dunno.

I will stay with the positivism and vote "no", yes i am a new guy, yes many people who are oldschool (I know who they are, even if I haven't been arround for long) are missing, but I think many will return in no time But not all changes are bad, The Town for exemple, the people there are getting better. Of course, there are still some problematic people, but the place is improving slowly, even the random slaugther is (almost) ending.

But I think I don't have much credit here. I don't hang arround random banter much, I tend to stay in SMBG and Homebrew.

All I know is that there's new blood coming(New souls to steal... Twisted Evil

), and that there are quite a few people around that are starting to make the playground a worse place to be in.

Doesn't mean its dying, though. Just means that the playground is moving on.

No, I don't believe the forum to be dying, I only see the Town as dying. No, wait, that's not right. It's dead, and those that are still seriously using it are stomping on it's corpse.

Just because the forum gets new members doesn't mean that the forum is going to end. Quit treating them as harbingers of doom.

Well, it's not so much that...as they tend to not pay attention to the systems we have in place before they post somewhere.

I don't think the playground will die, but it certainly is looking for a good defibrillator shot. I think it's just going through a phase, and that it won't stay that way for forever, but it will get worse for a while until it gets better. It's the learning curve of these new people...

Let's just hope they don't learn from D'anna or something like that!

Gitp will never die as long as the n00b hating members of AMEN stick around. And ther's SMBG and SG. So I'm postive.

As long as at least three people prowl GITP and are able to hold up a decent conversation, it isn't dead. At the moment, several thousand people are striking up several hundred conversations, so it's far from it's last legs. Even if it's weakening, it's still got the will to live.

I've at least been around the boards there enough to see that it's just a cycle that's repeating itself.

This time of year, people are looking at heading back to school. Some already have. Some are starting a new life with the beginnings of college and university. Others have taken off to join the work force. The August-September months are quite simply months of great change for many people. Of course, once all this happens, there tend to be plenty of new members joining in October-March for a multitude of reasons. Additionally, there are a number of times when old faces pop back.

I've witnessed over the past year a few good people leave, and a great many come and join the fun. As it stands, we're just in a normal slow phase. The boards will pull through just fine.

Though I just recently joined GITP, I have much experience with forums, birth, repeating cycles and death.

It is summer and people have a lot of free time on their hands and they are bored, GITP forum is a great forum. Conclusion : people join, people leave at the end of summer though some will stay, people get back later, this cycle repeats itself a number of times based on the quality and people of/on the forum.

GITP is growing, yes dieing for ´old´ people maybe becouse the people present when they joined are sometimes (not always permanently) leaving.

I hope that I am not a ´noob´in your eyes, yes I made a number of mistakes, but its bound to happen, its hum- woops I mean natural for any living or undead being.
