Books

So, we have one for video games. Why don't we try books?

I like Terry Pratchett. His newest Discworld is out in October.
I also love reading horror and fantasy as well as some non - fiction books about supernatural stuff and fiction.

I hate Harry Potter and Stephen King.

You had to make me see this thread before I disappeared, didn't you? Rolling Eyes

Terry Pratchett, David Eddings, Tamora Pearce, a few other authors who's names don't come to me at the moment...

Meh. I'll probably think of more authors and books tomorrow.
Vampiric

I agree with David Eddings and Terry Pratchett. Also Ian Irvine, Terry Goodkind, Philip K. Dick and Eric Nylund.

Stephen King isn't so bad, if you're willing to ignore that horrible, unreadable, and confusing mess called the Dark Tower series.

Try reading Cell, The Dark Half, and the Everything's Eventual collection of short stories.
Korith

I recently finished reading Zelazny's Amber series...all of it.

It was a good trip.
Castaras

Nine princes in Amber? That little series?

I've got one Amber story at least...the first one, I think...
Korith

10 books, starting with Nine Princes in Amber.

-Nine Princes in Amber
-The Guns of Avalon
-Sign of the Unicorn
-The Hand of Oberon
-The Courts of Chaos

-Trumps of Doom
-Blood of Amber
-Sign of Chaos
-Knight of Shadows
-Prince of Chaos

I think The Hand of Oberon and Knight of Shadows were my favorite, but there was lots of good stuff in there.

Yeah, Eddings and Goodkind are good. What cheesed me off with Eddings is that his latest Elder Gods series is absolute rehashed poorly-plotted tripe. Evil or Very Mad
With him I favour The Belgariad, Mallorean, Elenium, Tamuli and The Redemption Of Althalus.

Gooskind writes a fantastic series but with 10 books now, or is it 11 it's a bit much. ESPECIALLY as Pillars Of Creation was superflous to the plot. A whole book where the main character is only in it for 3 chapters max and about a character who disappears a book or two later. And Faith Of The Fallen was great but it seemed overly political. It's still a great series because his last two books really showed the brilliance he displayed with the first six.

Now the mamoth Wheel Of Time series: 10 sucked. If he didn't have about 20 (quite literally) main/important characters it'd go very well. Or ven if he managed to lose some of the filler in each book. Luckily, there's only one book left. 11 out of 12 done. One to go.

Yeah I know. Eight books for that series now. It (the book) was uninteresting. When I start a book I finish it; with that I couldn't even mae it to pg100 because it was so boring. It put me off a lot of his work to be honest.
C S Lewis, Lewis Carrol, and a lot of the classics you know.
Exachix

I like:
Pratchett

I liked:
Colfer before 'fowl stopped.
Eddings.

I still like Eddings. But the chance of new books coming out is nil for two reasons.
1) Leigh Eddings (David's Wife) died a few years ago. She helped him do alot of the books.
2) Someone complained all his books were 'samey' and he burnt all his manuscripts.

Read both the Belgariad and Mallorean. Brilliant series.

*audible gasp* Pillars of Creation is great! It shows how other things happen without Richard. Not superfluous. Evil or Very Mad And Faith of the Fallen was a key book! Pfft. Smile
CurlyKitGirl

Pillars Of Ceationsucks! Jenn is only in the series for TWO SMEGGING BOOKS!! Mad Mad What is the point?!
And I never siad I didn't like FaithOF, it's one of my favourites. It's just a bit too political. But I love the detail and the feelings and the absolutely amazing scene where Khalan has to tell Zedd Nikki took Richard.

AT least the WoT had no totally filler books; oh wait. Book 10. Very Happy
Vampiric

WoT? I don't think I know that one...

Wheel of Time by Rober Jordan. Big series; three prologuey books (you know before the story begins in time) and twelve in the actual series. ii out now.

Louisa M Alcott (authour)
Ivanhoe
Lewis Carrol
Kristen Britain
George R R Martin.

Oh now his series A Song Of Ice And Fire is absolutely amazing. I'd recommend it to anyone. ASOIAF has dragons, politics, wars, incest, intrigue, assassins, mysterious supernatural creatures and so much damn good stuff. Seriously. Read them. It starts
A Game Of Thrones
Clash Of Kings
Two books (UK release, 1 in USA) whose names I can't remember
And his new one out soon Dance Of Dragons.
